Fluffernutter Ice Cream and Wedding Things
This Fluffernutter Ice Cream will have you harking back to your childhood WonderBread days with peanut butter and marshmallow cream tucked inside!! Amazing! Fluffernutter: (noun) Combination of peanut butter and fluffy marshmallow creme, traditionally sammiched between slices of plain ol’ Wonderbread, perfect for elementary school children rendering them sugar highed and tweaky. Or brides regressing to childhood cravings in times of panic and stress.

Use in a sentence: With all of this stress and frazzlement Megan is going through with her wedding planning, she is regressing to childhood cravings of Fluffernutter treats as a coping mechanism for her stress.

Isn’t the point of to-do lists to catergorize your life and then find a way to strike a pen through that list with self gratification and a sense of accomplishment? Normally, perhaps. But with a wedding looming in 26 days, the list is doing the opposite of shrinking. In fact its going exponentially in the other direction. *palmface*
And about yesterday, in anticipation of receiving this list, I started taking small backhoe sized bites out of the ice cream tin just out of sheer panic and foresight.
The list of things to do goes something like this…
That also doesn’t include the four hours of wedding music that we have to put together for the entire event (Sidebar: If you have suggestions of wedding songs – Please, feel free to leave them in the comments section.).
And the two dress fittings.
And packing for the honeymoon.
And finalizing the flowers, the cupcakes, the delivery of chairs, menu for the dinner.
My eyes look something like this —> o.O
It’s not a pretty sight.
This on the other hand is a very pretty sight.
After a brief e-mail with my photographer there might be something very special happening during our wedding day photos that we didn’t expect that will take away a great deal of stress and make me furiously happy. It’s something almost as cool as me marrying my best friend (awww, barf.) By best friend, I don’t mean Beka. Although she is my best friend – but my man best friend, Ben.
It has to do with this. Cryptic, I know. This wedding has been full of cryptic and confidential information. Some of which has really pissed off the old folks – and its boarding on fun. Why lie? All this stress, a girl needs an outlet. And after all the yammering and talking we’ve done about this wedding to any number of sources- its been almost a weight lifted off of us to keep something to ourselves. Like that bag of chips you have above the fridge that you sneak snacks out of when you need a fix and that last straw of stress lifted off your shoulders…not that anyone needs to know. Except you and your tightening jeans.
The point is – wedding planning angst is now causing me to regress to childhood cravings of peanut butter and marshmallows and if someone doesn’t remove the spoon from my hand shortly problems will be had by me and my wedding dress. You may or may not get your hand back after trying to remove said eating utensil – but thats a risk you must be willing to take. I will not give up this ice cream lightly – because it is the things tweaky stressing girls dreams are made of.
Like, for realsies. Yeah, I just said that. You can unfriend me now. Or after you make this ice cream and I’ll prove my point.
In the meantime – what wedding song selections would you want to hear at a wedding? Any song goes, people. We already have a request for My Humps by the BEP’s… thats how we roll.

Sounds like a busy time for you, Megan, but happy times! Enjoy the ride, and this amazing looking ice cream will definitely ease any angst you may have during this hectic time. Love you, girl!
Thanks, Kay!! I’m having a great time and will definitely look back on it with happy memories. Ben has been so patient with me, so if he can deal with me through this, we can get through anything hahah Love you, doll 🙂
Lol, I’m glad you’re handling the stress with such panache 🙂 This looks delicious, and I can’t wait to hear all about the wedding when you can look back on it!
I wish I could say I had “panache”. I am seeing myself as some sort of lunatic lady. My poor MOH has been an overwhelming help and has kept me mostly sane through the whole process. Couldn’t have done it alone.
Ice cream is a great coping mechanism as is anything fluffernutter. I can’t wait to see pictures of the wedding and hear all the details. 26 days?!?!
I’m so excited for the big day, and even more excited to just go on vacation at the end of it. It’ll be the longest amount of time we will have had together in six months. I kinda miss the guy!!
I’ve been having somewhat of an ice cream problem lately… is there a thing as too much ice cream?
You saying for realsies made me want to talk to you more!
As for wedding songs… there are just too many awesome ones. My humps is perfect! ha!
“For Realsies” is definitely a phrase worthy of everyday conversation haha. And no, there is no thing as too much ice cream. Ever.
My Humps…hahahahaha. My now son-in-law joked about dancing with me at the reception to ‘Baby Got Back’ – until I told him I would do it. You should have seen his face. Priceless! TCP danced with My Baby to ‘Lullaby’ by Billy Joel. Everyone cried. It was really sweet. I say play everything you love. It’s so much more fun that way. The ice cream looks fabulous. We’ll have to make this one for the grandbabies. They’d love it. And their eyes would look like this: o.O
Billy Joel is always a legit music choice for weddings! And you dancing to Baby Got Back would just make my life complete.
I applaud you for these freakin’ incredible pictures of perfect ice cream, on cones nonetheless. Any time I attempt pictures with things that melt, I end up with a giant puddle of whatever melty substance I’m dealing with. It ain’t pretty.
I wish I knew about food blogs 6 years ago while planning my wedding b/c fluffer nutter ice cream may have made all the last minute stress worth it!
Ugh wedding stress, it’s right up there with moving stress…but this ice cream would cure it, I mean wow! It’s gorgeous and so are the photos!
I can’t imagine what it’s like to organise a wedding, I’m pretty sure it would absolutely send me loopy!
PS I love this peanut butter magic shell as much as I thought I would.
This looks so delicious! ah wedding planning. I remember that fondly 🙂
Oh my goodness, this just looks so good.
Fluffernut has got to be the most delicious sounding ice cream I’ve heard of! Your ice cream looks so thick and perfect! Good luck on the wedding planning and thanks for an awesome homemade ice cream recipe!
I love the sound of this ice cream
Flutternutter can definitely help with wedding stress. Thinking about you my friend, it will all be over so soon! SOOO excited for you!
i used to looooove fluffernutters, so this is right up my alley. YUM!
This looks delicious, and I can so sympathize with the pre-wedding nuttiness and jitters. You are going to do great though and it will be a fabulous day. Excited for you!
You WILL get it all done. Enlist friends and family if need be. And this ice cream – shut up – my husband would love this so much. We’re daily fluffernutter eaters in this house – well… him and the kids lol. I’m a straight pber.
I think my jeans just got two sizes tighter just looking at this. Best of luck with the planning! I really love your writing, and I think you’ve left just one critical thing off your list: in between making photocopies of ID’s, blast a completely unrelated song over the speakers (preferably with an obnoxious bass) and dance like mad until the photocopy is done. Replace photo, close cover, and repeat until all the copies are finished. I wish I was kidding–but sometimes having a fun or funny item on your list like that can actually make the list-checking-off process a little less harrowing, and makes for a good laugh.
At any rate, best of luck with the wedding things. Thanks for sharing!
Ala, I’ll totally have to blast some booty shakin’ music going as I photocopy all the licenses haha. Thanks for all the support!!
Oh. My. Lord. Megan this is INSANE!
It was stress cooking/eating at its finest. haha I brought the rest into work for the guys to devour so that I wouldn’t tempt myself to finish it all in one sitting. haha They helped me out. Good men.
holy crap, this ice cream looks out of this world! ugh, i’ll be in the same boat as you in 9 months so i know (i think) how you’re feeling..you can help me through it then and tell me to breathe!! you can do it!! you’re so close 🙂 xoxo
You can vent to me, anytime! Odds are, been there stressed over that! haha
GORGEOUS PHOTOS MEGAN!
P.S. You are gonna rock that wedding to do list! 😉
Thanks Jess!! I finally found my sweet spot of photos at home, I think. Just like you told me too!
Oh, gurrrrlfriend. I know exactly how you’re feeling!!! Wedding planning can make one go crazy!! Good thing you made this ice cream to tame all the madness. I am getting so excited for you! You’re going to be a beautiful bride!
Thanks Lauren. YOu’re amazing. I don’t know what I would do without all you girls to vent too. haha
Okay, so here’s the thing…you’re getting married whether or not your list gets all crossed off. Really, are you going to let a cowboy hat or recipe box stop you from saying “I do”? Of course not. And that’s the most important thing on the list, the “I do” part; the part where both of you do the one thing that you have been waiting so long to do. Right? Now breathe, for heaven’s sake. I’ve been married for 31 years and there are only a couple of things from my wedding day that have burned themselves into my memory: the moment when it was my turn to say ‘yes’ and the indescribable look of joy on my father’s face when my new husband and I waved goodbye as we drove away to start our new life together. Keep your heart happy.
Now for the ice cream. aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! It looks so doggone good!
Thanks, Terri!! At the end of the day I’m just thrilled to be marrying Ben. He’s definitely a keeper. 🙂
My best advice to you about The Day is: eat. I know it sounds weird, but I’ve been in 11 weddings and the bride never has time to eat at the reception. Now I always bring snacks and sandwiches to the hair/makeup sessions and that is always the only time the bride has to eat. So make one of your girls follow you around with a sandwich and feeds you!
Oh and I pinned these yesterday and I can’t stop looking at them. Beautiful.
Beka has a plan for making me eat all day long – she’s packing a cooler to our various locales for photos to make sure I’m shoveling food into my face and drinking LOTS of water 🙂 Best. Friend. Eva’. XOXO!
Hi Megan! This ice cream looks out of this world! I’ve never made my own ice cream at home. I’m scared to try because it seems so hard, but I must be wrong! And fluffernutters… OMG they were my FAVE sandwiches growing up. 🙂
Sally – Ice Cream at home is TOTALLY easy!! Don’t be afraid, really. So happy you like the recipe. My brothers got me hooked on Fluffernutters as a kid.
This ice cream looks amazeballs!!
In regards to the wedding music, definitely plan to play music that appeals to all ages. I had asked my DJ to do this, but then I also said people could request music. Well, one of my girlfriends got really wasted and would not leave him alone with song requests and he ended up getting into an argument with her. But, he kept playing her requests! And she kept requesting like club songs and none of the older people were dancing. It was annoying because he ignored my requests to play one person’s 10k requests. Ugh. So anyway, if you let people request songs, you might want to also make sure that in general, the DJ sticks to your requests!
Ummm, I don’t even need to be stressed to dream about this. On top of that, I have some marshmallow cream in my pantry just dying to be used!
This sounds TO DIE FOR!!! Drooling over here…
Hi, I stumbled on to your site. This recipe looks and sounds soooo good!!! I reread your recipe a couple of times and it seems you left out the amount of sugar your suppose to add when making the ice cream.? I would very much like to make this! Good luck!
Hi Theresa! I’m so sorry – thanks for catching that omission of the sugar. I have added it back into the recipe. It calls for 1 cup of sugar. Whisk the sugar together with the egg yolks and you’ll be good to go! Hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out!! All the best ~Megan aka Country Cleaver
Oh, I remember those stressful pre-wedding days…Sigh…I miss those. Now, I have 3 kids to stress about. Oh well, life goes on. And a fluffernutter ice cream can be a lifesaver!
