Peanut Butter Pup-Cakes and a BarkBox Giveaway

Gray hairs have started to appear around the Cleaver household and I am not okay with it. Not okay with it one bit. I’m not going gray here, it’s Huck. I’m not entirely sure if it’s ethical to start dying your dog to wash away the gray like a mid life crises riddled old man just to keep the puppy like appearances up for his mama’s emotional sanity. What? I’m fragile. Thank goodness I’m not dying to make him look like a fish or something. Since Huck’s 5th Bark-Day was a couple of weeks ago, I wanted to do something fun and special for him to celebrate. Yes, I am THAT dog mom. A Bark-Day with Peanut Butter Pup-Cakes and a BarkBox for him to unwrap with new treats and toys was the best way to celebrate.
Each bite was “fur”-ociously devoured and each new toy from his BarkBox was carried around and shown off to Ben and me. With simple ingredients around the house you can whip up some healthy cakes for your pup that won’t add to his waistline, thus his bad hips.
BarkBox, for those who haven’t heard of it before, is the fur-friendly equivalent of Birchbox, a monthly subscription to new dog treats, toys and things dog related.
BarkBox is heavily committed to quality pet treats and toys all made in the United States or Canada – where quality control is top priority. There are no needs to fear added ingredients that you can’t pronounce, and things that wouldn’t touch your lips to touch your pet’s either. Eco-friendly, organic, and perfectly balanced, these boxes provide hours of play and lots of goodies for your favorite fur-baby.
In addition to the stand up products included in each BarkBox, the company strives to help not only your pet lives the happiest life possible, but that of dogs looking for their forever home. 10% of all proceeds from each BarkBox subscription go to local pet shelters and make sure all four legged friends can find their way home. Who doesn’t love a happy ending, especially one with wet noses and wagging tails?
Included in this month’s BarkBox was a plethora of treats and some health minded toys that will give Huck lots of hours of chewing and help keep his chompers clean in the process.
This one is already one of Huck’s favorites. It’s easily replaced his coveted Nylabone as top toy. With the added benefit of keeping his teeth scrubbed and devoid of plaque, I can put off that call to the vet for a doggie dental.
I’m definitely interested to see how long this Penguin will last. Huck is a doom-er of stuffed toys, but with its design and minimal contours, its made to last. It will surely be put to the test!
Since Huck is allergic to practically everything – these wheat free, corn free, soy free, all natural treats will let him enjoy life and I won’t have to listen to him chew on his allergy riddled paddies.
This was an absolute hit with Huck and I know it will be with your pets, too. The generous people at BarkBox want to give a one-month subscription to you! Enter below through the Rafflecopter widget. And If you don’t want to take your chances on the giveaway, go visit BarkBox for a subscription of your own! And tell your friends, too. For each friend that signs up through you – YOU will also receive a Free month of BarkBox for your pet. Think of how many months of fun your pupper can get!
I’m also proposing this – for the love of all pets – for each subscription made to Bark Back through this referral link- ALL additional boxes of BarkBox will be donated right back to local shelters to help give foster pets and pound puppies who need some cheering up. Think of the joy we can bring to pound puppies everywhere! And you will receive an additional $5 off your first subscription. This is a win for all involved – most importantly the pups.
These pupcakes were a real hit – more muffiny than cupcakey, but no less tasty to Huck who devoured them whole. You might have seen him on one of my first Vine videos. That kid likes his pup-cakes. Run DMT did a great job with these and they were easy to adapt to what I had on hand. Huck throughly agreed!

So happy to run across your blog! Please tell me: is there truly a way to safely dye my dog’s hair to get rid of the gray? it absolutely breaks my heart to see his little puppy face go from brown/black to grey/white. If I could help him regain his “youthful” appearance, I wouldn’t find myself contemplating the inevitable quite so often.
Also, lately my dog is constantly licking his paws. Is the an allergic reaction?
This post just made me realize that we missed our dog Pi’s 6th birthday. I’m such a bad pup mom!! Maybe I need to make it up to him with some of these little pup cakes. What a fun idea!
My little wiener dog loves peanut butter, she would go crazy for these!
These are in the oven right this minute as today is our Aussie’s 5th birthday. I didn’t have carrots so substituted shredded zucchini and after sneaking a taste of both the batter and the frosting, I can say for sure they are going to be delicious. Rocket the birthday boy and his lucky brother Shadow are at my feet just waiting for their yummy treats!
Hooray!! I hope that your Aussie has a wonderful 5th Pupday!!
