Nutella Cocoa Krispie Treats
Easy, no-bake treats with Cocoa Krispie cereal and Nutella laden marshmallow ! These Nutella Cocoa Krispie Treats are perfect for summer.
Okay seriously, Dr. Quinn is making me cry. What the heck you fictional 90’s TV woman?! You just go on with your doctorin’, Sully lovin’ and pony riding. Ben and I don’t have cable. I know, how lame. Right? I agree completely. He We’re just that abhorrently cheap. But it’s probably for the best.
Because of that cheapness, we’re Netflixing our way through out favorite TV shows. Dr. Quinn is that latest show taking up that majority of our sittin’-on-our-ass time. My middle school Saturday nights at 8 were sacred time for me – I got my pony fix, and I’m pretty sure my love of bearded men came from Sully. I mean – that wild hair, that scruff. Daynnggg gurrllll. Ben wonders why I don’t let him shave….Well, blame it on Sully. It was ingrained deep in my teenage hormonal psyche apparently.
And…yeah. Sorry, I’m getting distracted again. I just can’t stop staring at Sully. *Hi Ben*
Anyway – this weekend I’ve got another wedding cake to make for one of my oldest friends! I should be working on that tonight, too. Damn you Sully! Dani, said friend, and I have known each other since we were in middle school – playing on softball and fast pitch leagues all the way up through high school. We’ve seen each other through those awkward teenage years, TV crushes (of which mine obviously still continue today), real life crushes, softballs to the faces, strike outs and a Chevy muscle car obsessions. Yeah, I was the girl in high school with a subscription to Super Chevy magazine. Cosmo? Puh-leeze. So I’m super thrilled to be baking the cakes for her wedding this weekend.

I just have to try and not stress myself out over it. After the last wedding, 4th of July weekend, where I baked this thingy majig, I swore that would be the end of my cake decorating career. Ohhhh, the pressure!! 95 degrees, melting frosting and a manic emergency extraction from my decorating spot in my rented kitchenette condo to the fridge of the venue where I had to finish decorating the cake – IN THE FRIDGE- I almost swore off decorating right then and there. I almost shotgunned one of those BudLights in the fridge!! But for good friends, I’m a total sucker. And for Dani – I couldn’t say no. So this time, I’m making three cakes, two being Purple Velvet, and one being Amaretto. So please pray for me, or bring me a beer. On the plus side, at least these cakes are local, no driving 6 hours with a trunk full of decorating supplies in Idaho heat to make these. Whew!
And speaking of oppressive heat – these Nutella Cocoa Krispie Treats – don’t require an oven! Hallie Jooooo Yahhhh!!! With the four Costco sized jars of Nutella in my house, I figured I needed to something with it other than eat it with a spoon…so here you go. You’re welcome. And anything I can do to keep my oven off in this heat is totally welcomed. Except baking these wedding cakes. The things I do for friends. I’m such a sucker.

First of all, Sully is HOT. I’d say he was my first crush as a kid. Yep.
Second, be happy you don’t have cable. I know you get more done in a day than most! 😉
Killer Nutella Krispies, girl. You crack me up about your ’90s TV watchin’. I’ve been married for several years and still have “boyfriends” I crush on. The Big Lug just laughs because he knows I’m nuts about HIM. (I still melt after all these years. So, you and Ben are OK.) Hey…and, best of luck to you on those wedding cakes! xo
GET.OUT.
And then get in my mouth. These are super hot, girl.
Oh, um I’ll take like whole batch please!? Jest send them over the river and through the woods to Tieghans little Mt. Hood Condo thing. K?
Cool!
What a fun idea! My son would love this!
Just curious… did you use Cocoa Puffs? That’s what it looks likes in the pics but the recipes says Krispies. Both I’m sure are delicious, just wondering in the Puffs would be too dense for this.
Hi Erin, thanks for catching this – yes, I used Cocoa puffs. They are dense, so maybe use a 13×9 inch pan an make thinner krispies. They will be easier to bite through. Or try Cocoa Rice Krispies! 🙂
These look to die for. I’m praying for you that all goes well with the cakes!
Beauteous maximus girl!
What a fun treat! These seem like the perfect snack to have for kids and out of town guests. Thanks for the tip!
Oh totally great for kids!! I loved the marshmallows and licked my fingers clean! So messy and so fun. I miss being a kid 🙂
This is so stinking delicious looking! LOVE!
Aww thanks Katrina!! I can attest to them being delicious, I ate half the batch!
Oh a fast and easy no bake recipe! LOVE IT!
Thanks Julie!! I figured I needed to learn how to do something with Nutella besides eat it with a spoon!
My heart be still!
Here, have a Nutella treat and start your heart up again!! 😉 Thanks Marie!
I love recipes using Nutella! And the krispie texture with it is a great combination!
Your first wedding cake turned out beautiful so I am sure the next three will be just as gorgeous! These krispie treats are calling my name and with no oven required, there is no reason not to make them.
What?! Dr. Quinn is on Netflix?! Well, there goes all my plans for the weekend (we don’t have cable either…this. is. my life.)
And as far as wedding cakes go, I’ve never heard anyone have a stress-free first wedding cake experience. Everyone I know (including me) swears off it after the first one. But then you go back, because for some reason the reward stays in your memory longer than the stress, tears, breakdowns, and time spent in the fetal position. Oy.
Plus, you can hardly say no to a friend who knew you when you were in middle school. Who knows what sorts of blackmail pictures she could have? *shudder*
Holy cow!!!! I love these so much. They are so fun! I have SO much Nutella that I keep eating with a spoon (please send help!) so this would be a perfect way to use it up. 🙂
Yum! Yum! Yum! And we just canceled cable over here. Are we crazy?
Oh my goodness, I just about fell over when I saw these! So Delicious!
Oh my, this looks so addicting 🙂 I have to save this recipe!
Wedding cake decorating?!! Oh man!! These treats would be my savior!
Made these with regular rice crispies since that was on hand. A big hit with the family

Thanks for the recipe first of all. I want to make a “spooky” house out of choc. crispy treats, do you think these will hold up as walls and roof?Do I have to make it stiffer? Please advise. THANKS
Hi Margaret, I don’t know if these will hold up as walls if they are sliced too thinly – but if you do give it a try, please let me know how it turns out. I’m sure you could use a large cube slice as a whole house and top it with a mock-roof. Send photos if you give it a go! And happy halloween!
Wow this looks amazing….Will have to give this a go. Thanks for sharing this recipe.
