No, no, wait – I promise this isn’t a joke! Peanut Butter and bacon is really a thing! I swear. I wasn’t a believer either, but I came around. A couple years ago a friend changed my world when she convinced me to take that first fateful bite of a peanut butter bacon hamburger on a mountain adventure roadtrip. Heavens parted, angels sang, and all that jazz. Basically I made it my mission to make this combo a regular staple condiment, not just that weird one you eat as a joke.
I promise, just try it once. I mean, peanut butter chicken satay is a thing right? HA, gottcha! See, it’s not as crazy as it sounds!Â
I know it’s not exactly HotDogWeek anymore, but I missed out on the last day of Hot Dog Week a couple of weeks ago because of a sad family event, so things got pushed back a little. But it didn’t mean I was going to miss out on sharing this gem with you guys.
And how is it that the weekend is done already? I’m going to be in denial that it is Monday, because I would much rather spend it all grilling, sitting by the pool (which I just watched other people doing instead since I was so busy) and doing nothing. All of those things are the total opposite of my weekend. So I’m calling a grilling mulligan. More hot dogs and more peanut butter bacon hot dogs for everyone!!

- Hot Dog Buns
- Bacon
- Shallot
- Smooth Peanut Butter
- Mayo
- Shredded Cheese

Peanut Butter Bacon Hot Dog

Ingredients
- 4 All Beef Hot Dogs
- 4 Hot Dog Buns
- 4 Slices Bacon
- 1 Shallot, sliced thinly
- 1/2 cup Smooth Peanut Butter
- 1/4 cup Mayo, optional
- 1/2 cup Shredded Cheese
Instructions
Prepare bacon in skillet until cooked through and crispy. Drain on paper towels and when cool enough to handle, chop into small pieces.
Preheat grill and cook hot dogs until 160 degrees through. While dogs are grilling, slice shallot, and shred cheese.
To assemble, toast hot dog buns, top buns with mayo, hot dog, slather each dog with peanut butter, topping with shallots, cheese, and bacon. Serve immediately.

There’s a restaurant nearby that has a bacon and PB burger and I LOVE it. I order it whenever I go there because it’s so delicious. I know I’d love these hot dogs!Â
I have tried and loved peanut butter and bacon on burgers so why not hot dogs?
It’s not that I haven’t embraced the peanut butter, bacon combo, it’s just that I haven’t tried it! But, I’m 100% on board, because what DOESN’T go with bacon and peanut butter?Â
When I was growing up in the 1960’s we ate bacon and tomato sandwiches with peanut butter. Â The first time I ordered a BLT in a restaurant, I was appalled that there was lettuce on the sandwich but when I took a bite and there was MAYO and no peanut butter, I almost got sick. Â I’ll stick to my bacon and tomato with peanut butter!! Â
I ‘ve heard this before but still never tried – I think you just persuaded me! (I’ve also seen this combo for beef burgers with a smear of pb on a brioche bun!)
Well obviously I need to get out more because I have never heard (or thought) of this combo before! Â It sounds very intriguing and different, I must give it a try!!
