This is going to be known as the Week of the Cookbook Giveaway. I hope you don’t mind. I figured. This book just overflows with adorable and creative frostings ideas and covers all of the basics you have to know in creating great frostings. From basic butter creams, to cooked frostings and fun glazes and ganaches this book is over brimming with fun. I wanted to share with you her recipe for Bananas Foster Frosting because well, it’s one of my favorite combos like ever. Banana and rum? I mean please girl. It’s where its at. This can of course be made with rum extract instead of the real deal for those who choose not to partake in the booze version, but either way it’s good. And with a whole banana in there – it’s considered a fruit right? I wish!!

  • Water
  • Eggs
  • Rum Extract

Bananas Foster Frosting and Vanilla Rum Cupcakes

Bananas Foster Frosting is a favorite flavor combo with banana and rum!  This can be made with rum extract instead of the booze version, and either way it’s good.


Units Scale


  • 1 box Pillsbury Vanilla Cupcakes Mix
  • 1/2 cup Oil
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp Rum Extract
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon


  • 1 cup Banana, mashed
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 45 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp Rum Extract
  • 1 Tbsp Cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp Salt


  1. Prepare Cupcakes according to box directions.
  2. For Frosting, beat together banana and butter until smooth.
  3. Add in rum extract, cinnamon and salt until combined.
  4. With the mixer on low, mix in powdered sugar until combined. If frosting is too thin, add more sugar. If frosting is too thick, add milk 1 tsp at a time until desired consistency is reached.
