10 Minute Grilled Banana Boats
Take this campfire classic to your grill with these 10 Minute Grilled Banana Boats! And individualize them with all your favorite toppings!
Dish Count :: 1 Knife, Foil

We are getting the hottest temps in nearly a year in Seattle, 90, and well, we just aren’t used to that kinda thing around here. That’s face melting hot for us wussy west coasters! If anyone needs me, I’ll be belly flopping into the pool and scaring small children in a bathing suit.

Ben and I also love camping in the middle of the summer, but since we are so busy with our opposite work schedules, and now that our state has a burn ban in effect I’m trying to find ways for us to make the most out of summer so we don’t miss out on the best it has to offer – s’mores and campfire classics. One of my favorites from my childhood is banana boats that my dad taught me how to make! I just found a way to take them from camping to GLAMPING!
These are so ridiculously easy, and I think it’s best to use those bananas that are just going a little too far ripe to eat. They are sweet, soft and just absolutely melt with chocolate and marshmallows in the foil packets.
You can’t beat these. My dad taught me how to make them right – absolutely loaded with chocolate and marshmallows!

If you’re a fan of The Sandlot, you’ll be asking if “you want a s’more?”. Make these with chocolate and marshmallow and top them with graham crackers on top when they come off the grill or out of the coals (if you don’t have a burn ban in effect, that is!).
I went a little more glam with mine, and added a boat load – HA! Get it? Banana boat? Yeah… you get it…. – of fresh raspberries and blueberries. I may have added graham crackers to them, too.
These are practically dish free desserts, so make sure you give these 10 minute grilled banana boats a try this summer, if you’re at home or trekking it out in the woods.
Steps to Make Banana Boats
You can make these on the grill, in the campfire, or in the oven!
Use knife to cut the peel down the middle.
Open the peel to expose the banana inside. Stuff the chocolate, marshmallows, or other filling into the banana peel, to nestle in right along the banana inside. Calories don’t matter here!
Gently wrap the aluminum foil around the banana so that it can stand in the fire with the cut side up, so the filling doesn’t leak out. Customize your own recipes for banana boats with fillings that make you drool.
Place banana on the grill using oven mitts or tongs to keep your hands safe. Bake or grill for about 10 minutes to ensure that the bananas are cooked, and the marshmallows and chocolate are melted. Remove safely, and allow to rest for 2 minutes before unwrapping to serve.

Top with any other things you desire, and serve. Eat straight out of the banana peel.
Need more toppings combos?? Got you covered!
- Peanut Butter Banana – Add a dollop of peanut Butter to the chocolate and marshmallow
- Coconut Macadamia Nut – Add in some white chocolate chips, shredded coconut and chopped macadamia nuts
- S’mores – Toss in some crumbled graham crackers
- Cherry Cheesecake – Add in cherry pie filling and graham crackers

Description
Take this campfire classic to your grill with these 10 Minute Grilled Banana Boats! And individualize them with all your favorite toppings!
Ingredients
- 4 Ripe Bananas
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips
- 1 cup White Chocolate Chips
- 1–2 cups Mini Marshmallows
- Raspberries, optional
- Blueberries, optional
- Crushed Cookies, optional
- Foil
Instructions
- Preheat the grill on medium heat.
- Using a knife, make a small slice the length of each banana in the curve of each banana. You want the banana laying upright, like a boat, cutting down the middle of the banana skin and open the banana skin to reveal the banana inside.
- Divide the chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows amongst the bananas, stuffing the chips and mallows inside the skin.
- Using 1 square of foil, wrap each banana boat in foil, sealing completely.
- Reduce the grill to low heat and place each foil banana packet onto the grill. Cover and roast for 5-10 minutes depending on the ripeness of the banana. These were done for 10 minutes. The marshmallows should be melted and toasted and the chocolate should be fully melted.
- Remove and unwrap. Add berries of your choice if desired, or cookie crumbles! Serve immediately.

I have never had these at a campfire! It’s like a warm banana split! Guess I need to dust off the fire pit.
We are thinking about going camping in a couple of weeks. These would be perfect for everyone in our group.
Ok, this makes me want to pitch a tent in my backyard, force my husband to start a fire and make these B-A-N-A-N-A boats.
I would 100% add the crushed cookies to mine 🙂
THIS is the way to eat a banana!
I can barely stand it. Awesome. And bananas makes it health food.
I made these once when I was about 12 on our backyard bbq and was not a fan, but I used to not like bananas back then…not sure when I even made them. Anyway! They looks amazing and I want to try it again.
I’m really weird about bananas, I only like them certain ways. But smothered with chocolate and marshmallows and all this goodness? That’s one way I’ll definitely take them!
Dude. I am so ready for fun summer outdoor food! Bring it on! Ps I miss you.
Delicious! I don’t ever remember eating a warm banana. Can’t wait to try it.
