Terranea Resort and EatSeaRetreat
It’s not often you can fly 2 hours and feel a world away, but Terranea Resort feels like a whole new world, founded on the cliffs by the sea.
I’ve sat at my computer three different times to tell you about my trip to California last month, and at no time did I ever think of a way to tell you about it without it sounding like another blogger going on another trip to another sunny destination – but in truth, these get togethers with these women, who I admire, is so, so, so much more. In this community we are spread so far and wide, that having long distance friendships culminate in two solid days together, can reawaken all of those creativities that somehow get bogged down in your own day to day churn, and you can relax and lean on these creators that inspire you. That is what this weekend was all about.
And, well, the destination was just a bonus. With a glass of champagne at check in.
You might remember that I was lucky enough to visit Terranea last year for this same retreat, this time around meeting new faces I’d only known through the computer screen, even though we’ve all been online friends for (in a couple cases) years!
Breathtakingly beautiful, and instantly relaxing, we dropped our stuff and headed for the pool. Naturally. And took snaps along the way.
In so many instances it was like these friendships had already been solidified, it was just all coming together. The mission of the weekend, was to relax, teach, and inspire. And it did that and more.
One morning, we had a salad bar with Earthbound Farms. The combinations were endless, as were the photos. And Ashley even made a meyer lemon vinaigrette from lemons that were growing right outside on on the patio. Spoiled.
And we continued with lemon chia seed scones from The Faux Martha that have been dubbed (because it’s true) the best scones on earth. I’ve made them again just to get my fix. We even made a video for them, thanks to Organic Valley.
Endless layers of flakiness that until that weekend, I never could have mustered on my own.
The resorts guiding principles, to live a whole and meaningful life, are put into action everyday. The food grown in their garden is served in all of their restaurants, the honey cultivated in the beehives is also shared, and the sea salt they produce is from the sea right off the front cliffs. It’s an all encompassing mission that serves them so well.
And, not to brag – I got to ride in the executive chef’s side car along the highway and to the gardens. Okay, that was totally bragging. It was so much fun for this motorcycle lover!
But just like every thing good, weekends come to an end. We celebrated our successes, and talked about our struggles, and cheered each other on wanting to see one another grow in their infinite potential. Supplemented of course with copious amounts of guac and vino at the ready. These women, all of them, are inspiring, uplifting, and real friends.
What better way to come back renewed than that.
