Premade smoothie packs make mornings even easier, and these Morning Glory Smoothies are filled with goodness to start your day right.

When I was just back to work after having Emmett I got used to blending up a smoothie every morning for my drive in. It was frantic enough to get myself ready, make sure he was set, had everything he needed for daycare, and then get out the door so I could make it to work by 7. Breakfast at home just wasn’t in the cards.

On maternity leave I started ordering shipped smoothies that all I needed to do was add in milk and blend, but at 4 bucks a smoothie, it was quickly withering away on my pocketbook. I decided it was just as easy to prep my own smoothie packs, and FAR cheaper.

One weekends I like to make my Morning Glory muffins with Emmett. It gives us a change of pace after months of him constantly asking to make chocolate chip banana bread! This boy loves to bake, but with the Morning Glory muffins, they pack in lots of shredded apple, carrot, pecans, unsweetened coconut, and cinnamon for a great way to start your morning.

And then I thought it was also the perfect combo for a morning smoothie. LIGHTBULB! Divide all your ingredients into four ziploc bags, throw them in the freezer and they are ready to grab when you need a smoothie on the go.

What Liquid Do You Use?

Good old fashioned milk is a great add to your smoothie, not to mention an extra kick of protein. If you’re looking to cut back on dairy, I have been a big fan of unsweetened vanilla almond milk. When I was doing Whole30, a case of the Costco unsweetened vanilla almond milk was my main source for smoothie blending. Mix and match to your taste to find your favorite.

What Else Can You Add?

These Morning Glory smoothies can be made Whole30 compliant with a few easy substitutions, like chopped dates for the raisins to add a mild sweetness.

You can use sweetened shredded coconut for more sweetness if you wish, but I prefer unsweetened coconut to keep the sugar count down.

Mix and match pecans or walnuts to this smoothie. Sliced almonds would also be delightful. Flax seeds can give you some extra fiber and healthy fats as well.

And if you’re like me, I always add a tablespoon of coconut oil, and a scoop of collagen powder to the blender before hand. I find that both of those make a smoothie stick with me more through the morning and make it more satisfying – like a true meal.

  4. Blend until smooth. Pour and enjoy.
