These gluten free mini chocolate orange scones will have your pinkies up as you take a bite! Savor each crumb during your next Downton marathon!

Let’s be honest, our Valentine’s Day wasn’t exactly romantic – it revolved around take out, wine and watching Game of Thrones. But for the most part, that’s how I like it – relaxed. But it didn’t knock it out of the park in the romance department. I get my heaping helping of romance from all the period dramas and British TV I watch that clogs up my Netflix queue, where there is no doubt a pair of star crossed lovers or British accented gentlemen a mere click away. Namely from Downton Abbey.

Downton Abbey has long been my biggest vice, having jumped on that bandwagon before it officially became cool – the one time in my life I liked something before it was trendy – and it’s here to stay.

But the season finale and Christmas special are coming up quick and it’s time to break out the good china because it’s been one heck of a season. And we’re celebrating with gluten free mini orange chocolate scones with Pamela’s Products.

Not being all to familiar with gluten free baking, I admit it was a little daunting to dive right into the gluten free world, but this was quite a bit easier than I imagined – thank heavens!
The Downton Abbey season finale and Christmas special is getting ready to air here in the States here in the next week or two and I am prepared. There will be the most lovely of tea times ready and waiting here at the Cleaver house hold, with these scones and Pamela’s Figgies and Jammies. If you thought some of last season’s story lines have resolved themselves – just you wait, they are just getting started. Whew!

Description
These gluten free mini chocolate orange scones will have your pinkies up as you take a bite! Savor each crumb during your next Downton marathon!
Ingredients
- 2 cups Pamela’s Gluten Free All Purpose Flour Blend
- 1 Tbsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 6 Tbsp Butter, cubed and frozen
- Zest of 1 Orange
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 cup Mini Chocolate Chips
- 3/4 cup Heavy Cream +1/4 cup More if Needed*
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In a food processor, pulse to combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add in the frozen butter cubes, and pulse 7 times so butter is in small crumbles and evenly distributed. Add in orange zest and vanilla extract. Pulse three more times to combine completely.
- Pour mixture into a large bowl. Pour mini chocolate chips into the mixture and using a spatula stir to combine. Drizzle 3/4 cup of heavy cream over the top and gently mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Pour mixture on to a clean, heavily floured surface. Using your hands gently knead dough to form a ball and press into a rectangle 5 inches wide, 3/4 inches tall, and approximately 8 inches long.
- Using a knife, cut down the middle of the dough rectangle lengthwise. Cut each log into even squares, and then cut each square onto a diagonal forming a triangle.
- Place each scone on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown on top.
- Gently remove from the baking sheet and cool on a wire rack. Serve with tea and other Pamela’s Products premade treats.

These would be perfect with a cup of coffee and the Downton Abbey show. Will have to check out Pamela’s flour.
Ok, why can’t these magically just appear in my kitchen this morning?! They look great girl!!
There’s something about scones that makes me want to have a pipping hot cup of tea and point my pinky finger out. I don’t even watch Downton Abbey, but I imagine that’s what they do. 🙂 These scones look to die for, and I love that they’re gluten free. I need to give that four a try!
Please don’t say the word “finale!!!” I’m not ready for it to ever be over!!! 🙁
Holy smokes, I need these right now!
What a wonderful scone. Your relaxed Valentine Day and Netflix and Downton Abbey sounds awesome to me!!!!! Bring on the butter for the scones however. Don’t let us get side tracked
A low stress Valentine’s Day is the best kind in my opinion! Also those scones look positively gorgeous!
These scones look so tasty! I love that they’re mini, that way I don’t fee as guilty 🙂
For an event I plan to make scones. Not only have I never made them, but I’ve never made anything gluten free. My question is this – can I use this recipe with blueberries also? I’d like to give the gluten free ladies more than one variety selection.
These are perfect for a cup of tea and catching up on Downton Abbey
Good for you for breaking out the fine China for these deserving, beautiful scones! Of course tea would be perfect with them! I’m a Downton lover, too, and will be so sad when it ends. Great recipe!
