The ultimate game day appetizer, this cast iron cheeseburger dip is a truly one pan wonder that tastes just like a cheeseburger from the Golden Arches!

It’s almost unreasonable how much this tastes like a cheeseburger from McDonald’s, but in a dip. I was truly shook. This is a one pan appetizer that is perfect for Super Bowl Sunday, or any big sporting event.

Super Bowl is always a big deal in my family. My dad always packs the house with a bunch of people, and the food is always on POINT! This year I am 100% bringing a batch of this cast iron cheeseburger dip to the festivities.

And this year, I’m not just watching to see if Kansas City can make it a three-peat (frankly, I’m kinda hoping for a Ravens upset), but I’m watching the commercials EXTRA hard to see what the new Next Level Chef promos will be! It’s less than two weeks away to the premiere of Season 4 of Next Level Chef and my anxiety and excitement are battling it out to see how things shake up this season! Which team do you think I make? Or do I go up in flames?

Ingredients for Cast Iron Cheeseburger Dip

  • 1 Pound Lean Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Chopped Onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced – or 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 12 ounces Velveeta Cheese
  • 1/4 cup Yellow Mustard
  • 1/4 cup Tomato Paste
  • 1 cup Canned Fire Roasted Diced Tomatoes, lightly drained
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • Ground Pepper to taste
  • Dill Pickles, chopped – if desired.

Instructions for One Pan Cheeseburger Dip

This is so simple and takes just a little while to make a really decadent dip that tastes just like a burger from your favorite fast food joint.

  1. In a 10 inch cast iron skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until cooked through and the onion has softened. Drain if necessary.
  2. Into the same skillet, stir in the Velveeta, canned tomatoes, yellow mustard, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until the cheese has melted and the dip starts to form.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, and add in ground pepper if desired.
  4. Keep warm and serve with additional chopped dill pickles if desired.
  5. If you want to, you can also pour the mixture into casserole dish and bake until ready to serve. Or keep warm on a portable burner or Crockpot set to warm.

What Can I serve with Cheeseburger Queso Dip?

The dipping options are endless! With that big bold cheeseburger flavor, you need a dipper that will hold up!

  • Tortilla Chips
  • Kettle Potato Chips
  • Pita Chips
  • Sourdough Cubes
  • Carrot Sticks or Celery
  • Lettuce for a mock lettuce wrap!

How Can I Keep This Cheeseburger Dip Recipe Warm?

You can make the whole thing in a cast iron pan. If you want to keep it warm for longer there are two options. If you have a portable burner that can be set to warm, you can leave your cast iron pan on there and keep things nice and ooey gooey. Or, you can pour the whole mixture into a Crockpot or Slow Cooker, set to warm and keep it covered.

Can I Make This Cheeseburger Dip Ahead of Time?

Yeah, totally. I recommend cooking the ground beef separately and then cooling completely. Then you can mix the ingredients together and store in the fridge until you’re ready to heat it up in your cast iron skillet or Crockpot and serve.

My Queso Dip Is Too Thick!

You can add in small amounts of milk to thin the dip if it is too thick. Start small, with a tablespoon or two of milk, and stir to combine until it reaches the desired consistency.

Can I Add Bacon to this Cheeseburger Dip?

Ummm, YES!! I feel like that should be an obvious answer. Right? I mean, BACON Cheeseburger Dip? Yes, please.

If you will be adding bacon to this recipe, chop and cook bacon ahead of time. You can sprinkle cooked crumbled bacon over the top as a garnish, or you can mix it into the dip at the end.

Variations To Cheeseburger Dip

There is always ways to customize this recipe to make it your own! Choose your own substitutions. There is no bad way to make this.

  • Ground Turkey is an option.
  • Add sour cream to the top before serving
  • Melt additional cheese over the top, like colby jack, cheddar cheese, or mozzarella for a stretchy cheese pull and extra melty goodness.
  • Sour Cream can be added for additional creaminess, or swap half of the Velveeta with cream cheese.
  • Dill Relish – if you don’t have chopped pickle for the top, spoon a little dill relish over the top, or serve it on the side for people to add on their own!
  • Red Onion – Pack a punch with some chopped onion over the top of your cheeseburger dip!
