Homemade Starbucks Medicine Ball Tea

If you’re house is anything like mine, the winter colds have been making their way through repeatedly. And I am so over it. I think I have forgotten what not having a runny nose and a cough feels like.

Thank goodness my pack a day smoker’s cough is gone. But it has been a doozy. My homemade Starbucks medicine ball habit has been a bit of a god send on that score. The ingredients for this copycat recipe are great to have on hand when you need a boost when the cold symptoms start to hit.

My friend got me hooked on them during our coffee runs at work. He ordered one, and never having heard of them before I turned up my nose at it, getting instead my usual half-caff coconut milk latte, only to turn around and order one the next day thus beginning my complete reliance on them as I have been going through this cold season.

These Medicine Balls are not on the official menu for Starbucks, but most baristas know how to make them. So scope out the internet for this secret menu item – isn’t hasn’t failed me yet!

So, I decided to make them at home!

In this recipe I used teas you can readily find at the store in lieu of the traditional Starbucks teas that don’t always pop up in your local grocery store aisle.

You can find the Starbucks specialty teas that make the medicine ball here – Starbucks Peach Tranquility Tea, and Teavana Jade Citrus Mint Tea. I also highly recommend the Starbucks Defense Wellness Tea! Starbucks own Teavana teas, so you can search amazon by either of these names to find the right tea for you. Or mix and match other brands. Teas are so popular now that many come with additional vitamins, like Vitamin C, antioxidants, and health benefits that can help improve immune system function.

I grabbed what I could with a peach tea, and a lemon green tea from my grocer’s aisle. Pick up a prepared lemonade, and have raw honey on hand. If you want added fresh lemon, I always endorse a couple extra slices in your tea!

How simple is this Homemade Starbucks Medicine Ball?

The recipe is SUPER simple. With just a blend of hot water and lemonade, a couple of tea bags and some added honey to soothe your sore throat you’re well on your way to recovery from that winter cold!

Ingredients for this Starbucks Copycat

  • Water
  • Prepared Lemonade – I used Simply Lemonade for this recipe
  • Tazo Lemon Ginger Tea, or Teavana Jade Citrus Mint
  • Peach Tea, or Starbucks/Teavana Peach Tranquility Tea
  • Honey
  • Fresh Lemon Slices or fresh lemon juice

Growing up my mom and I had a nightly ritual of tea before bed, and having tea always reminds me of that time together.

I don’t take as much honey in my tea as I used to (like an obscene amount when I was a kid!), but something slow to sip during the day is always a great way to spend a few slow minutes of your day.

I don’t take as much honey in my tea as I used to (like an obscene amount when I was a kid!), but something slow to sip during the day is always a great way to spend a few slow minutes of your day. This blend of honey citrus mint tea clears you up and gives you a boost. If not actual immune boosting powers, it makes you sit and savor it, so do it! And mix and match some other herbal teas to find a new favorite concoction!

While I know you can microwave your tea, I highly endorse getting an actual kettle. Every time you microwave your water, an Englishman falls trips over a sheep.
