General Electric - Pop of Color Kitchen! Look at that FRIDGE!

My kitchen is the place I feel most comfortable in my home. It’s where I spend the most time; it’s where I am the most at peace, the most creative, and the most ‘me,’ for lack of a better word. And yes, that’s about as cliché as I can get. But the truth of the matter is, that when I am in my kitchen cooking for others, nourishing them, feeding their bellies, and my soul, it’s a direct reflection of my love.

It’s not to say that spending hours in the kitchen laboring intensely over a simmering stove means I love them more some days than others when I whip up a quick peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but making sure that their needs are met, and that they are happy, satisfied, smiling and joyful means that I am those things as well.My apartment’s galley kitchen is small, cramped, with limited space, and tiny counters. It’s always a balance, to cook, clean, maneuver and whip something up with the little space and time I have on hand – but whatever comes out of it at the end, it has meaning and emotion behind it. GE Appliances has a long history in the American kitchen, helping home cooks become innovators, helping them become creators, artists, and use this place in our home as a new place of expression since 1905. A new documentary series by GE Appliances called Our American Kitchen will be exploring the unique ways that the kitchen creates meaningful experiences in the American home for real GE appliance owners and diverse individuals and families. How do we all cook, celebrate, connect, and live our lives in the kitchen? Our kitchen stories may have similarities, a common theme of connecting with others, but they also highlight the rich diversity of our culture and the unique needs of each family and home.Screen shot 2015-03-31 at 9.12.56 PM

As a blogger, it’s not just a room in my kitchen, it’s a place of business as well. It’s the hub of my household, it’s where the day starts with the first cup of coffee and scrambled egg on my range, where I find myself turning off the lights at the end of the day. My kitchen has helped me, and my family, grow and thrive. It may not be much, but it’s our American Kitchen Story.
