I did it, dragged Ben to go see Cinderella. I’m the worst. But for the most part, I try to be fair and balance out going to see movies we both like – like last time we went to go see the Imitation Game. And the time before that it was probably something else with guns. This time it was squarely in the girly court.

We don’t do movies often, and I’m quickly realizing why – and it’s not just because they pop up practically the day after they leave the theaters on our Apple TV, but because theaters are terrible!! Has the theater experience become just that terrible that fast that I didn’t realize it?
Maybe I’m being hyper sensitive to people whispering behind me, laughing uproariously when clearly there was nothing that funny about what was happening on screen, and hello $5.50 for a Coke? C’mon.
Ben judges me when the only place I do bring a purse is the theater and I do admit to sneaking in a can of Coke to crack when there is a really loud bang or shot – hey at least it’s not a beer! – but for crying out loud it’s highway robbery for a crappy theater going experience.
And just like that, I realize I’ve become what we joke Ben is – Old Man Keno. Just call me Old Lady Keno.

But for two hours of love, romance, Lady Rose as Cinderella, ponies and Rob Stark in tight pants and riding horses – I guess I will pay for that.
This Lemon Coconut Swirl Skillet Danish was inspired by Country Living’s Sticky Caramel Pecan Roll in their latest magazine. It was just too pretty for words. With spring in the air, I wanted to play a quick switcharoo with the filling and use some lemons and coconut I had on hand. And man was it divine. This disappeared so fast!! It’s ooey, gooey in every little bite. Make this immediately.

Description
Put a new twist on your regular danish with this lemon coconut swirl skillet danish. And don’t forget the cream cheese icing!
Ingredients
For Danish
- 1 pound store bought Pizza Dough
- 4 Tbsp butter, softened
- 4 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
- 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1/4 cup Sugar
- 1 Lemon, zested
- 1/2 cup Shredded Coconut
- 1/4 tsp Salt
For Cream Cheese Icing
- 4 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla
- 1/4 cup Milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease the bottom and sides of a 10-inch cast-iron skillet or cake pan.
- In a bowl, stir together cream cheese and softened butter until smooth in a bowl.
- In another bowl, stir together lemon zest, brown sugar, sugar, and salt.
- Roll the dough into a 14 inch square. (If the dough springs back, cover it with a dish towel and let stand 5 minutes before continuing to roll).
- Spread dough with cream cheese mixture and sprinkle sugar mixture on the other half.
- Sprinkle the coconut over the half with the cream cheese mixture and gently press the coconut into the cream cheese.
- Fold other half over sugar and press lightly to adhere. Cut dough lengthwise into 4-5 strips. Tightly twist each dough strip. Starting in the center of greased skillet, wrap strips in a spiral pattern, pinching ends together. Cover and let stand in a warm place, 30 minutes.
- Bake the danish until golden and cooked through, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare Cream Cheese Icing.
- Transfer roll to a serving plate and drizzle with Cream Cheese Icing. Serve warm.
- To make the glaze, stir together all of the ingredients for the cream cheese icing together in a bowl. Whisk together until smooth. If too thick, add more milk 1 tsp at a time until desired consistency is reached.

I want this ASAP! YUM!
Ben is such a good sport! Ha! And I always bring snacks to the movies in my purse. WAY to pricey. Crazy-town. This danish! Just GET OUT! That swirl is hypnotizing me!
As far as I’m concerned you should have put this skillet in your purse! Movie concessions are just stupid. And I totally didn’t put it together that Cinderella was Lady Rose!!!
This has ruined me for all future danishes – love your ingredient switches!
Ooey and gooey — you’re speaking to me girl!! So jealous you got your husband to go see Cinderella!!
I vote this is too beautiful to eat. Although I might be willing to give it a try, especially with that lemon coconut swirl!
A skillet-sized danish = HAVE MERCY. I need this whole thing in my mouth for breakfast tomorrow.
This is incredible! You can’t see me, but I’m giving you a standing ovation and round of applause. Well done! 🙂
It’s gonna be sweet dreaming tonight because I’m going to be dreaming about diving into a skillet of this danish! YUM!
Look at THATTTTT.
This looks DIVINE!!! And, I so want to see Cinderella. I’m guessing I’ll be seeing that one myself. 😉
What clever idea. You get MAJOR stars for this recipe!!!!
Looks really good! I don’t see a recipe for it though. Did you replace the pecans with coconut from the original recipe? And how did you incorporate the lemon flavor? And how did you make the cream cheese icing? Sorry for so many questions; I’m not good at eyeballing with danish pastry stuff since I haven’t made any before.
Hi Ayesha,
You must zest the lemon to get the skin off of it and it gets mixed in to to the sugars for the filling. It should all be outlined in the recipe. I just checked. The cream cheese icing recipe is outlined as well, just take all the cream cheese icing ingredients outlined and stir together until smooth. Good luck!
Theaters are terrible! The husband and I won’t go anymore – we just wait till it comes out at home. So much more comfortable on the couch!
This looks sooo good – I love the lemon / coconut combo.
omg..I’m dying to see Lady Rose as Cinderella!! How was she??? Also, I want movie popcorn. Stat.
Wow, this looks incredible!
Hoe. Lee. Crap.
I want a big ol’ pan of this.
Girlfriend, you crack an entire case of coke! I’ll be beside you toasting with my mini bottle of wine 😉 Also, this treat takes my breath away. GORGEOUS!
This is all my pregnant heart has thought about since I saw a picture of it on FB the other day. Curse and bless you. It looks amazing!
This. Is. AMAZING. I’m obsessed with lemon lately and this could not have shown up at a better, more citrusy time in my life. PINNING!!
This looks awesome. I actually don’t see the recipe either. I thought it was maybe because I was on my phone but I don’t see it on the computer either. I would definitely make this!
Is there a recipe somewhere?
Oh geez – so sorry, the recipe is there now!
