Description

A twist on a classic apple pie, with dried cherries and a Kettle Chip Sweet and Salty Potato Crumble makes this an instant classic for the holidays!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 3 Honeycrisp Apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Dried Cherries
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 − 1 1/2 Tbsp Apple Pie Spice
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Prepared Pie Crust
  • 1 Egg White
  • 1 Tbsp Water

Kettle Chip Crumble:

  • 4 cups Kettle Sweet and Salty Chips, lightly crumbled
  • 4 Tbsp Butter, melted and cooled
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Roll out pie dough on a piece of parchment paper into a 16″ diameter circle. Gently place onto a baking sheet.
  3. In a large bowl, toss to combine the apple slices, dried cherries, lemon juice, apple pie spice and sugars.
  4. Pile the apples into the center of the pie dough and pile high leaving lots of room around the edges of the crust.
  5. Gently fold the edges of the crust onto the apple and cherry filling.
  6. Whisk together the egg white and water. Brush the edges of the crust lightly with the egg wash.
  7. To prepare the crumble, pour remaining ingredients into a bowl, and stir together until large clumps form. Or use your hands. Sprinkle on top of the galette.
  8. Bake for 45-60 minutes or until the apple are tender. Remove from oven and let cool for three hours. Do NOT cut into this early, it will drip all over.
